Travel Itinerary

Day 1: - Arrival in Moshi

  • Details: Arrive in Moshi, meet your guide, and attend a pre-climb briefing. Your guide will review the climb itinerary, conduct an equipment check, and address any last-minute questions or concerns.

Day 2: - Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

      • Activities: Transfer to Rongai Gate; begin trekking to Simba Camp.
      • Accommodation: Overnight camping at Simba Camp.
      • Details: After breakfast, transfer to Rongai Gate (1,950m) to start the trek. Hike through pine forests and farmland before reaching Simba Camp (2,650m). Set up camp, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 3: - Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp

      • Activities: Trek from Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp.
      • Accommodation: Overnight camping at Second Cave Camp.
      • Details: Trek through moorland terrain with sweeping views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields. Arrive at Second Cave Camp (3,450m), set up camp, and acclimatize. Enjoy dinner and prepare for the next day.

Day 4: - Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Camp

      • Activities: Trek from Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Camp.
      • Accommodation: Overnight camping at Kikelewa Camp.
      • Details: Continue trekking through the moorland zone, passing through scenic valleys and unique vegetation. Arrive at Kikelewa Camp (3,600m), where you'll set up camp, rest, and enjoy dinner.

Day 5: - Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

      • Activities: Trek from Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp.
      • Accommodation: Overnight camping at Mawenzi Tarn Camp.
      • Details: Today's trek takes you towards the rugged Mawenzi Peak. The landscape becomes more alpine as you approach Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m). Enjoy spectacular views of the Mawenzi peaks and relax at camp before dinner.

Day 6: - Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut

      • Activities: Trek from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut.
      • Accommodation: Overnight camping at Kibo Hut.
      • Details: Traverse the lunar desert of the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut (4,700m) in the early afternoon. Rest, hydrate, and prepare for the summit attempt, which begins just after midnight.

Day 7 - Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

    • Activities: Summit attempt via Gilman's Point to Uhuru Peak; descent to Horombo Hut.
    • Accommodation: Overnight camping at Horombo Hut.
    • Details: Start the summit bid just after midnight, aiming to reach Gilman's Point (5,681m) by dawn. Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut (3,720m). Rest and recover at camp.

Day 8 - Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

    • Activities: Descend from Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate; transfer to Moshi.
    • Accommodation: Overnight stay at a hotel in Moshi.
    • Details: After breakfast, continue the descent through the moorland and rainforest zones to Marangu Gate (1,870m). Collect your summit certificates, say goodbye to your crew, and transfer back to Moshi. Celebrate your accomplishment with a well-deserved rest at the hotel.
